Hi! I'm an Electrical Trades Instructor at Camosun College, Victoria BC. Previously employed in the electrical industry I have been an electrical instructor for 5 years at Camosun College teaching primarily the first and second year apprentiship classes.
My background prior to entering the college was doing new electrical installations, maintenance and upgrades to existing equipment.
Rogers Chocolates, Coastal Construction, PT Designs, Zebra Design Group, The Bay, BC Systems, Sunkist Orange Group, UVic.
I recently changed careers to pursue teaching what I have practiced for several years. I enjoy teaching new apprentices both the theory behind what we do and the techniques needed to work in a quickly changing environment. As a relatively new employee at the college I am excited about transforming and updating our trades information into the digital world and welcoming new students into an exciting and informative classroom.
The PIDP offers new approaches to course design, new methods of instruction and on-line course delivery, something I am presently implementing in my classroom environment.
In my time away from school I can be found racing Jackrabbit, a 40' Nelson Merek (CM1200) throughout the Pacific Northwest at events such as Swiftsure, Whidby Island Race Week, Round the County, Southern Straights, Grand Prix and this year the VanIsle 360!
I also somewhat enjoy gardening alongside the deer and squirrels who roam our yard each day.
This is what I do for fun!
Most people think that sailing is a nice calm event, only on nice sunny days. Here we are burning up the racecourse before an unfortunate broach. Boats ahead of us were the slower boats who started an hour ahead of us, eventually all to be passed during the day! We quickly got back on track and continued this leg of the race!

This is what competitors see just before we pass them!
!This is what it looks like at the start of each race! A rolling start where each boat tries to be at the start line on time, with maximum speed. Here we are racing much larger boats, but found ourselves once again at the front of the pack!
